Teacher Guide

Learn how to use IB Marker to enhance your teaching and track student progress.

Getting Started as a Teacher

Welcome to IB Marker! Here's how to set up your teacher account and start helping your students:

1

Create Your Account

Sign up with your school email address. If your school has a subscription, enter your school code during registration.

2

Request Teacher Status

Contact your school administrator to have your account upgraded to teacher status, or use the teacher verification process.

3

Set Up Your Subjects

Select the IB subjects you teach. This helps filter relevant content and student data.

4

Invite Your Students

Share your class code with students so they can join your class and you can track their progress.

Managing Your Classes

The Teacher Dashboard gives you powerful tools to manage multiple classes:

Create Classes

Set up separate classes for each subject and year group. Each class gets a unique code for students to join.

Student Roster

View all students in each class, their activity status, and quick access to individual progress reports.

Class Analytics

See aggregate statistics showing class averages, common areas of difficulty, and improvement trends.

Export Reports

Download progress reports for individual students or entire classes in PDF or CSV format.

Tracking Student Progress

Monitor how your students are performing and identify those who need extra support:

Individual Student View

  • Performance Metrics

View average scores by topic, question type, and over time.

  • Activity History

See when students practiced, how many questions they attempted, and their consistency.

  • Weakness Identification

Automatically highlighted topics where students are struggling.

Privacy Note

Teachers can only view progress data for students in their classes. Individual answer content is not visible to maintain student privacy during practice.

Creating Assignments

Set specific practice tasks for your students:

1

Select Assignment Type

Choose between topic practice (flexible) or specific question sets (structured).

2

Set Parameters

Define the topic, difficulty level, number of questions, and due date.

3

Publish to Class

Assign to entire classes or select specific students. Students see assignments on their dashboard.

4

Review Submissions

Track completion rates and review aggregate performance on the assignment.

Best Practices

Make the most of IB Marker in your classroom:

Regular Check-ins

Review class analytics weekly to identify struggling students early and adjust your teaching accordingly.

Encourage Consistency

Students who practice 3-5 times per week show significantly better improvement than those who cram.

Use Data in Lessons

If multiple students struggle with the same topic, address it in class before assigning more practice.

Celebrate Progress

Acknowledge students who show improvement, not just those with highest scores. The badge system helps with this.
