What Are Badges?

Badges are gamified achievements tied to real universities around the world. By answering practice questions and completing milestones, you earn badges that represent your mastery in different subjects and IB topics.

20+ Universities

Earn badges from prestigious institutions worldwide, from Oxford to MIT to the University of Tokyo.

6 Badge Levels

Progress through Basic, Gold, Elite, Master, Platinum, and Legendary badge levels at each university.

XP Bonuses

Higher badge levels unlock passive XP multipliers that boost all your future practice.

Profile Showcase

Display your top 3 badges on your profile to show off your achievements to friends.

Badge Levels

Each university has 6 badge levels. As you progress, badges become harder to earn but provide greater rewards.

Level 1: Basic Badge
Base requirements. Complete the standard number of questions at the required average score. XP multiplier: 1.0x
Level 2: Gold Badge
20% more questions required than Basic. Shows growing commitment. XP multiplier: 1.2x
Level 3: Elite Badge
40% more questions required. Demonstrates strong subject knowledge. XP multiplier: 1.4x
Level 4: Master Badge
60% more questions required. Shows expert-level dedication. XP multiplier: 1.6x
Level 5: Platinum Badge
80% more questions required. Near-mastery achievement. XP multiplier: 1.8x
Level 6: Legendary Badge
Double the base questions required. Ultimate mastery level. XP multiplier: 2.0x

How to Earn Badges

Earning badges is straightforward: select a university, complete its milestone requirements, and the badge is automatically awarded.

Choose a University

Visit the University Path page and browse available universities. Filter by prestige tier, country, or question requirements to find one that interests you.

Start a Milestone

Each university has one or more milestones. Select a milestone that matches your current skill level and subject interests.

Answer Questions

Complete the required number of questions while maintaining the minimum average score. Only your best attempt per question counts toward progress.

Earn Your Badge

Once you meet all requirements, your badge is automatically awarded. Continue practicing to level up to the next badge tier!

Best-Attempt Scoring

When you answer the same question multiple times, only your highest score counts toward your milestone progress. This encourages learning through practice without penalizing early mistakes.

University Milestones

Each university offers milestone challenges that test your knowledge across different question types and subjects.

Question Types

Multiple Choice (MCQ)

Quick-fire questions testing conceptual understanding. Great for building foundational knowledge.

Fill in the Blank

Test your recall of key terms, definitions, and concepts with gap-fill exercises.

Exam Style

Longer-form questions similar to real IB exams. Marked by AI with detailed feedback.

Milestone Requirements

Milestones typically require:

Question Count
Complete a specific number of questions (e.g., 50, 100, or 200 questions depending on the milestone).
Average Score
Maintain a minimum average score across all questions (typically 60-80% depending on difficulty).
Subject Focus
Some milestones require a percentage of questions from specific IB subjects (e.g., 50% from Biology).

XP Multipliers

Badges provide passive XP bonuses that apply to all your practice. The higher your badge level and the more prestigious the university, the bigger the bonus.

University Prestige Tiers

Elite Universities

Tier 1 institutions (MIT, Harvard, Oxford, etc.) offer up to 50% XP bonus at max level.

National Universities

Tier 2 institutions offer up to 40% XP bonus. Well-known universities with strong programs.

State Universities

Tier 3 institutions offer up to 30% XP bonus. Excellent regional institutions.

Regional Universities

Tier 4 institutions offer up to 20% XP bonus. Great starting points for badge collection.

How Bonuses Scale

Your XP bonus scales with your badge level:

Level 1 (Basic): 20% of the university's max bonus
Level 2 (Gold): 35% of max bonus
Level 3 (Elite): 55% of max bonus
Level 4 (Master): 75% of max bonus
Level 5 (Platinum): 95% of max bonus
Level 6 (Legendary): 120% of max bonus (exceeds base maximum!)

Bonuses Stack!

All your badge bonuses from different universities add together. Collect badges from multiple universities to maximize your passive XP gains.

Badge Combos

Unlock special bonus rewards by earning badges from specific combinations of universities. Badge combos provide additional XP bonuses on top of your individual badge multipliers.

How Combos Work

View Available Combos

Check the Badge Combos tab in University Path to see all available combinations and their requirements.

Meet Requirements

Each combo requires specific badges at minimum levels. For example, "Ivy League Trio" might require Harvard, Yale, and Princeton at Level 3+.

Auto-Unlock

When you meet all requirements, the combo automatically unlocks and the XP bonus immediately applies.

Collect badges from top UK universities like Oxford and Cambridge.
Global Scholar
Earn badges from universities across different continents.

Prestige System

Reached Level 6 (Legendary Badge) at a university? The Prestige system offers infinite progression for dedicated learners.

How Prestige Works

After earning a Legendary Badge (Level 6), you can "prestige" to reset your badge to Level 1 while gaining permanent bonuses:

+25% Permanent XP Bonus
Each prestige adds a permanent +25% XP bonus that stacks with all other bonuses.
Prestige Tier Display
Your badge shows a prestige indicator so everyone knows your dedication level.

Prestige Tiers

Bronze

1 prestige completed. Shows dedication beyond the basics.

Silver

2 prestiges completed. Serious commitment to mastery.

Gold

3 prestiges completed. Expert-level achievement.

Diamond & Beyond

4+ prestiges. Legendary status with massive XP bonuses.

Profile Display

Show off your achievements by selecting up to 3 badges to display on your profile.

Managing Your Badges

Go to Your Profile

Navigate to your Profile page and look for the "Manage Badges" option.

Select Your Badges

Choose up to 3 badges from your earned collection. Your highest-level badge from each university is shown.

Save Your Selection

Click Save to update your profile. Your selected badges are now visible to anyone viewing your profile.

Badge Statistics

Your profile also shows badge statistics including total badges earned, universities completed, and your average completion score.
